Happy New Year Early

I’d like to wish all of my blogging friends a safe and Happy New Year!

Enjoy, be blessed and be careful!

Happy New Year

Identity Theft

8:42 pm

As I’ve mentioned before on my blog I’m the Nervous Nelly type. I worry because it’s my job. I’m a mom and a wife and the daughter of an elderly Mom. With my health issues I have to be careful about not catching colds (yes I know I have one now, achoo), take my meds on time, keep my doctor’s appointments, blood test appointments and be cautious about my overall health condition.

I won’t even mention how I worry about my daughters - 9 year old Peanut and 20 year old Lady Ali - and Hubby who works too much, does too much around the house and smokes…..nope let’s not go there.

One thing I don’t want to worry about is Identity Theft. We have shredder where we shred all of our paperwork and check our credit reports. There’s a way to keep even safer now.

You’ve probably seen the commercials for Life Lock. Todd Davis, the CEO of Life Lock drives a truck and shouts out his Social Security number knowing that no one can use it without Life Lock alerting him. The service guarantee is up to 1 million dollars (with some restrictions).

Right now there is a Life Lock promotion code on new services. It offers one month free and an annual discount. This is the perfect time for me try this out and save myself some worry.

There’s a brand new service called Wallet Lock which helps you if your wallet’s lost. They will help you get replacements of all of your credit cards, insurance cards, your social security card, driver’s license and more. This is a free add on to the regular service.

With my Brain Fog I’ve lost my wallet on numerous occasions. I’ve been fortunate that it’s always been found either in my home or car. But this is another service I could really use too.

Now’s the perfect time for me to sign up. I can use the Life Lock Promo Code to save on some peace of mind. I can really use some of that.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

6:03 pm

Since I’ve been sick with a bacterial infection and on an antibiotic I’ve not been able to take my Humira shots. I use Humira for Rheumatoid Arthritis and I often call it my miracle drug. Being off it while I was really sick wasn’t so bad. I mean most of my time I was sleeping or coughing.

By now I’m finished with my antibiotic but I’m still not feeling well. I’m still coughing a bit and have a stuffy nose. I’ve called a number of my doctors but it seems that it’s OK to close your office and leave an answering machine on. One of the doctors I called even had an answering machine with a full box so I couldn’t even leave a message.

So I called a pharmacist. She said that I can’t get a Humira shot unless the infection is gone. “How would I know that,” I asked? She said my doctor would be able to tell me.

I really want my shot (said in a whiny voice)! My hands, wrists, knees and hips hurt so bad. Anyone out there a doctor?

This is the Right Thing To Do

11:29 pm

I have been very fortunate this Christmas. For the first time in years I haven’t had to put our Christmas gifts on credit. Nope, they’re paid for right out. And this is thanks to Izea also known as Pay Per Post. I’ve been doing paid posts on my other blog Brain Foggles since the end of September.

This blog was recently accepted by Izea so I can make some extra money here too. Because of this opportunity and the season of giving a fellow postie, Mama Bok started a discussion on Izea’s community board about giving something back. She suggested that we make a donation in the name of Izea to a charity. How awesome!

Soon Izea agreed on Habitat for Humanity as it’s chosen charity. You can donate online here. Now remember fellow posties, if it weren’t for Izea what would you be doing without? What has this company made easier for you? And now think of this charity. Habitat for Humanity builds homes for people who need some help getting financially.

These homes are not given away. Instead, the family moving into the home trades “sweat equity” which is time and effort to help build their home. Habitat also helps when and where there are hurricanes, earthquake, etc. and in Third World Countries.

Please donate by the end of this year. Put your donation in Izea’s name if you’re a Postie. If not do it for yourself. There’s nothing like giving to make this holiday season feel even better.

Please take a look at some other posts about this opportunity for us to do something for someone else:

I’m Feeling Better!

1:36 am

The antibiotic is doing it’s job. I slept a lot, drank a lot of fluids, rested and drank hot decaf tea. I was a good patient. So thank goodness I’m back to feeling a lot better.

I was able to leave the house for a few hours on Friday. I got some of the last minute Christmas shopping done. I helped to plan the menus for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I didn’t overdo it but when I got home, I felt exhausted. So I gave in and took a long winter nap.

Today I got some grocery shopping done and picked up some stocking stuffers. I slept again. I’m just giving in to my body when it’s telling me to sleep.

Tomorrow it’s off to church and then to get some more presents with Hubby. We enjoy doing the real last minute shopping together. I’m happy to say that I actually found a few gifts for him, not too expensive but things I hope he’ll like.

So off to bed soon. My nap made me feel like I can’t sleep tonight. I figured I get some blogging done and visit my friend’s blogs too.

My Turn

3:07 pm

“Children are walking germs,” my neurologist told me when he learned by accident that I was volunteering at Peanut’s school. He has two of his own and knows Peanut well. He didn’t mean it in a bad way, just as a warning.

Someone like me who is on immune suppressant medications shouldn’t be around a large group of children. What do you do then when your own child is sick?

There’s not much really. You wash your hands until they’re dried up prunes. You may even wear a mask around her. But in the end, you know you’re going to catch it. And that I did.

I now have the cough, cold, stuffy nose, sneezy, head hurting, energy sapping sickness that Peanut had. Back to bed so I can get to sleep again. It hurts to type, to look at this screen and even to sit up.

See you when I’m feeling better…

And Before I Go

1:14 am

Tomorrow is the big day, one of the biggest in my life so far. My oldest dd, Lady Ali is graduating from college with a Bachelor’s Degree. She’s soon to be 21 and she had to take semester off for surgery and she’s worked full time most of the time she’s been in school. Now if that ain’t bragging rights I don’t know what is.

We’re celebrating this whole weekend and treating her like the deserving princess she is. So I’ll be gone until either late Sunday or Monday.

Remember my recent post on Olive the Other Reindeer? As I was trying to find Graduation cards in December (not happening - too ugly - went with congratulations) I was thinking of how quirky my dd is. She’s like me in a lot of ways. She’d love the Olive the Other Reindeer DVD, Heroes Season One because she never had time to watch it and maybe even Angel - The Complete Series Collector Set.

Her birthday’s coming up and I may surprise her early.

Cough Cough Cough…

12:01 am

Poor Peanut is sick with an awful cough. Took her the pediatrician yesterday and sat in the “sick” waiting room. The room is separated by the well room by nothing, no wall, no window just some space. It would be funny if it wasn’t scary. I wore my mask to try to alleviate germs from the little ones around us that were coughing into the air, wiping snot in their sleeves and walking around touching my stuff.

The nurse gave me some antibacterial spray (cool) for my hands as we waited. When we got in to see the doctor he examined Peanut and listened carefully to her lungs. I swore I heard wheezing but he didn’t. I guess that’s why he’s the doctor.

We got a prescription for cough medicine and when I explained about having to go out of town on Friday he gave me an RX for an antibiotic. He said to use it if she didn’t get better in three days. I gave it to her tonight as she’s running a fever now.

I have to share some of the things that Peanut said to the doctor. As sick as she was she still had us rolling. She told him that she liked the allergist because he was “doctorish”. Then when Dr said to drink plenty of fluids she asked if dipping cookies in milk counted as drinking fluids. He got some good laughs out of her and told me that he’s seen a big improvement in her anxiety.

Praise God for that! Now to get her feeling better.
