Working From Home When Disabled
Since becoming disabled I am learning about how strong the desire to work is even though it is often difficult. I have found that working from home part time my solution and it can be yours too.
Some people who have a physical disability were born with medical problems that may have led to a worse degree of disability or were born with that disability. Others have had some kind of accident or medical problem that led to a disability.
Whether from birth or later in life people with disabilities cannot be put into one group. There are so many differences in functioning, in how people cope mentally, in support systems, etc. There is also a difference in the ability to work.
Some people with disabilities are able to work full time outside the home. Some can work part time. Some are able to work from home only. The factors that go into these decisions depend on the person’s medical condition, their doctors and the type of work the person wants to do.
In almost all occasions, adaptations must be made. That’s where the ADA comes in. People wishing to work have the right to work!
Keep dreaming your dreams and working toward them. Use the help available to you through the government, through non-profit groups such as the Disabled Online Users Association and bloggers like me. Yes blogging is my work at home job. There are many others, such as being a virtual assistant, becoming an affiliate, selling items online and more.
Don’t be scammed into paying for work though. Be careful about taking part in something that you may not be able to do, for example taking part in truck driving school if your vision is very poor, or learning to make jewelery if you have arthritis.
