National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week is coming to a close tomorrow, Friday September 12th. So far the speakers have been awesome and the whole conference rocks!
The online conferences will end with a closing seminar featuring Jeff Kanyon who will share about a man’s perspective of living with a chronic illness. Lisa Copen will join him and reveal some of the prize winners too. So be sure to check out the instructions and schedule site.
Some of the prizes are promotional products like mouse pads, buttons and bumper stickers. There’s also lots of books and my prize which is a 2 hour consultation on paid blogging.
As an aside take a look at some of the funny T-Shirts from Med-Tees. Here’s one of my favorite ones that had me laughing out loud literally.
And if you didn’t catch my presentation today. Here’s your chance:

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. As many know ovarian cancer is difficult to diagnose. There are some symptoms to look out for though even though they are vague but put together they can get you on the track to seeking medical attention.
- Bloating
- Pelvic or Abdominal Pain
- Difficulty Eating or Feeling Full Quickly
- Urinary Urgency
The risk factors for ovarian cancer are:
- Family History of ovarian, breast and colon cancer
- Age – the older a woman is the higher her risk is
- Obesity
Research for finding a cure, an easy way to diagnose and the cause of ovarian cancer is needed. This month many organizations are working towards the goal of fundraising as well as awareness.
Please take the quiz about this type of cancer given by Ovarian Cancer Awareness.org and spread the word about this disease.
It’s finally here! Invisible Illness Week has begun. The virtual conference of speakers and listeners will take place on Blog Talk Radio. There are instructions on how to use this site, which makes it easy to either use their chat system or your own phone to call in and ask questions.
You can register in advance so that Lisa Copen and Rest Ministries, the coordinators of this event will know who is taking part. Plus this will help to get you in the running for the prizes that are being offered this year.
Learn about the speakers and get the schedule too. You can prepare in advance by visiting Blog Talk Radio and setting up a reminder email or use your own online calendar to do the same. You don’t want to miss this year’s speakers!
I’ll be speaking on Thursday, September 11th at 3 PM EST on How to Get Paid To Blog. Please join me. I’m offering a two hour consultation on setting up a blog for free!
Invisible Illness Week is necessary to provide people who feel isolated, misunderstood and often depressed. Having this conference online is perfect for people like me who often can’t attend conferences in person due to our health issues. Thank you Lisa Copen for all you do throughout the year with Rest Ministries and for National Invisible Chronic Illness Week.
Next week, September 8 – September 12. people who have a chronic illness will be able to unite online to listen and ask questions of speakers about living with invisible illnesses. Lisa Copen, the founder of Rest Ministries, also coordinates National Invisible Chronic Illness Week. She has Rheumatoid Arthritis and does all she can to provide support and information to those of us who feel isolated and very often misunderstood.
I am one of those misunderstood people. Although I have multiple chronic illnesses and have times when I can’t put two thoughts together, or get out of bed, people tell me that I look great. I hear it so often that I just am programmed to say thank you. I know they mean well. And it is a compliment to be told that I look good, but when you’re feeling like the bottom of someone’s shoe, it kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Do you get it? You probably don’t if you don’t have an invisible illness. Please join in for Invisible Illness Week. You can learn how it feels to be one of us or get the support you may need.
