When you feel as if you are always getting instead of giving, it is a wonderful feeling to be able to give back. I was able to do this recently when I got an email from someone newly diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome. The woman also had other chronic illnesses but her rheumatologist and opthamologist were not up to date on her new dx. She also lives in a rural area where there are not a lot of doctors to choose from.
I answered her questions to the best of my abilities and provided links to her for the Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation and an online support group. She replied that just knowing someone who had the same disease as her was helpful. She had felt alone until our email exchange. It felt better than getting gift cards to her favorite stores. It wasn’t that I was able to answer all of her questions, but be there for her. I felt worthwhile and like I had accomplished something.
Reach out to others in some way. It can be the perfect gift for the two of you.

I came across this video from my Google Alert set to Myasthenia Gravis. I am amazed at the the way that this young man who is only 13 is able to describe what MG is all about. Lewis Schofield, who also has Asperger Syndrome, a form of Autism, was diagnosed with MG in April of 2008. He was most likely 12. With his ability to make this video to educate people about this disease and to inspire people at the same time, I bet that there are offers for marketing jobs coming his way.
I admire him. Plus he makes me really think that I need to be grateful for what I have. How can I complain after seeing what he is going through?
I have one of those Medical ID bracelets that I wear 24/7. The problem with it is that I have to call and update my medications all of the time. I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t updated it in a long time because it’s just another thing to do. It’s another reminder of everthing that’s wrong with me and something that I’d be doing too often for my own taste.
What a whiner, right? I did think of a solution for this and for others like me, yes I think there are others who feel the same way, why not be able to update our bracelets with a scanner every time we get a new prescription or a new diagnosis?
POS system or Point of Sale Systems can handle this. I guess we’d need an inventor to get behind this project. If you’re interested in this, let me know. I’d like to make a little money off this brilliant idea.

I know a lot of you thought I fell off the face of the earth, or that I got the worst stomach flu known to man, or that I was totally incapacitated.
I have been sick. And just found out that it is the Myasthenia Gravis. Even my neurologist was pretty shocked as to how downhill I’ve gone. I’m slowly increasing my Mestinon. And waiting to see how that goes. He’s warned me that if this doesn’t work, I’ll have to increase the Cellcept. That does not make me happy at all.
Sorry for not keeping up here, but I’m doing the best I can with writing reviews and running contests on my other blogs. I hope to write here again soon. There’s so much information that I want to pass along about health and medical conditions, especially rare ones.
