I've had chronic low potassium, lowest was 1.8, since 2000. We've tried everything to get it up and nothing worked. The two times I've had to have surgery they put me in the hospital the day before for constant potassium and magnesium IV's with testing every few hours. I guess potassium needs magnesium and that's why bananas are so good since they contain both.

A cardiologist in Chicago where I use to work told me at my age with low potassium and high blood pressure he'd suspect an adrenal gland tumor. Yes I have one but tests show it's not doing anything so we leave it alone and watch.

I was diagnosed a few years ago with an underactive thryroid and RA then last year with diabetes. Since being treated for all my potassium has come back to normal. I'm not questioning why just glad it has

Hi, I also have problems with low potassiom time to time. I have secondary Addison's Disease and Crohn's. I also drink was too much liquid so I am constantly peeing. I just try to eat potassium rich foods. When I am low my fatigue level is unbelievalbe. I try to watch it very carefully.
