I was diagnosed around 2001 with inclusion-body myositis, diastolic dysfunction, and type II diabetes. I had had high blood pressure and sleep apnea for years. I even had to spend a few years on supplemental oxygen as the doctors tried to figure out what was happeneing to me. I have had to learn hard lessons as to how to survive, but I'm doing it. I went on Soc. Sec. disability and live a very full life now with lots of great friends, especially here online. I am leaving in a few weeks for 2 months in California and will travelling cross-country on Amtrak! Believe me, this is a BIG deal for me. But it can be done with a little research and preserverance. Life goes on with us or without us. Might as well make it the best one you possibly can!

O my gosh, I am finally meeting someone online with myasthenia gravis! I was diagnosed in 1988, have had thryoid problems since the age of 6, and now fibro. I work with a team of disability specialtists who assist persons who disabilities travel and particularly cruise. OMG, I feel like I have met a new friend! Sandy Wheeler

I understand the autoimmune queen comment. When my rheumy called me on my 33 birthday to tell me I had lupus, mixed connective tissue disorder, reynaud's, Sjorner's and Celiac. She told me that "autoimmunes get lonely and they tend to bring friends"

God bless

I'm so glad I found your site. I too have RA, was diagnosed in my 20s (now 40). I'd love to exchange links as I blog about comfortable, stylish shoes. Many of my readers have autoimmune or chronic illness and would be interested in your site.
Blessings,
Kirsten

You might be interested in listening to the comments of a 13 year old boy with Asperger Syndrome about his recent diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis.

While the podcast entitled "Special Feature Interview with Douglas Giesel and An Update Interview with Lewis Schofield" is mostly autism-based, Lewis does comment on his MG. His words are very inspirational.

Midnight In Chicago puts out these free audio podcasts, and they can be listened to at www.mic.mypodcast.com

I came across this by chance and, honestly, I'm really impressed by everything you've written. I'm fairly new to MG, it's been a little over a year for me, and I've looked through everything you've said with admiration and hope for myself. Thank you for everything you've said, even if it doesn't feel like you've said much. You have.

My fiance has Mixed Connective Tissue Disease which is a mixture of several Rheumatoid arthritis related diseases. Like you, she is a tough lady and refuses to let it get her down. It is good to meet someone like you who is looking to make a difference in other peoples lives to help them to have a better quality of life. In the midst of our pain, we can make a difference. When we are weak, He is strong!
